AFRICAN AMERICAN GENEALOGY

Have you ever tried to discover the history of your family, but didn’t know how or where to begin? The Goochland County Historical Society is here to help by sponsoring Beginning Genealogy. Our second lecture this year will focus on African-American Genealogy and will take place on February 11, 2023 at the Goochland County Public Library at 3075 River Road West. This lecture will feature five people from the Louisa County Historical Society who have years of experience doing genealogical research; they will speak about African-American genealogy including how to track ancestors back into the period before emancipation. Space is limited so please sign up for the class by contacting the Goochland County Historical Society at 804-556-3966 or goochlandhistory@comcast.net. If you have any questions about the class please feel free to send us a message.
